Gallery of the Monuments and Heritage Centre, 3 French Revolution Square, Ljubljana

The exhibition will present twelve projects for the revitalisation and management of four pilot examples of immovable cultural heritage, which are being prepared by students of architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture from the UL Faculty of Architecture and the Department of Landscape Architecture at the UL Faculty of Biotechnics, together with researchers from the HEI-TRANSFORM project, in the framework of four experimental revitalisation laboratories - RevitLabs.

The sites include the settlement heritage of Kostanjevica na Krki, the abandoned industrial heritage in the centre of Hrastnik, the castle hill in Gornja Radgona with its archaeological heritage and the mighty but neglected Hrastovec Castle. Through the collaboration of researchers and an innovative participatory approach to planning, the students designed solutions that will contribute to the development of a model for a sustainable approach to the adapted re-use of abandoned heritage.

The HEI-TRANSFORM core research project brings together experts from the most prominent Slovenian educational and research institutions in 14 fields. Based on research, good practices and four concrete examples in the local environment, they are developing a new open access tool that will enable local communities, investors and individuals to screen potential projects for revitalising heritage that has been without a proper function. The results of the survey will serve as an important starting point for integrating heritage into the sustainable development of local environments and will support all those who see an opportunity in the restoration and re-use of immovable cultural heritage.

You are also invited to the opening of the joint final exhibition of the students of the Faculty of Architecture, which will take place on the same day at Zoisova 12 at 17:00.
